Still Here, Still Making Theatre, Still Working

Associate Director

Personally, I think the best motto for an educational establishment is: 'Or Would You Rather Be a Mule?'

I trained at The Miskin Theatre in Acting and Physical Theatre back in 1995 and found it to be the most enjoyable, creative and inspiring two years of my life.

The combination of my passion for the arts and working with the team of creative professionals at The Miskin inspired me to find out about all areas of the arts and I graduated in 1997 with the highest recorded marks ever recorded for a course at this level.

I then went on to further my training in a number of areas including Musical Theatre, and Make-up for Theatre & Film and also set up my own touring Company and Part-time theatre school in London.

In 2000 I became Associate Director of the Miskin Theatre. My Journey from training as an actor at the Miskin to working professionally as it’s Associate has given me the opportunity to examine it’s strengths and weaknesses and to aid in the development of the fantastic training we offer now.

Although we offer a great package of qualifications at the Miskin it’s whole appeal for me is it’s unique working ethos and the emphasis on the professional training you receive here.

The Miskin has given me so much, allowing me to take risks and challenge myself on a daily basis, create new and exciting works, devise and produce material for large casts and allowed me to work with some fantastic young actors.

This year I will be working on a diverse range of productions starting with Without Words, then Co-directing and writing Treasure Island at Christmas and then writing and devising one of the end of year shows, which will be a sketch based show.

My focus is mainly devising both dialogue and physical theatre, with my main passion being dark comedy and sketch- based work.

I like my work to be challenging and risky in process as well as in performance and mostly start with a blank canvas. This transpires in a kind of organised chaos, which has had a positive outcome for my productions…so far!
