| "I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being." Oscar Wilde ![]() In 1999 I finished school and looked for a computer course. “Get into computers because that’s where the money is” was what I was constantly getting told. After going for a gruelling interview at North West Kent College and having my national record of achievement being thoroughly investigated it was suggested by the college that maybe The Miskin Theatre would appeal more to me than computing. I phoned up the Theatre and was told that one more audition day was left and that it was the next day. I prepared a two minute speech from Cartwright’s, "Road" and off I went to my audition. After an exciting day of improvisation and movement workshops I proceeded to my audition for Dominic Power (another director at the Miskin). I did the monologue and was told it was one of the best audition’s ever seen at the Miskin and that I should forget the computer course and follow my true passion. ![]() From that point I had 3 successful years at the Miskin theatre, I got into one of the best drama schools in England where I obtained a First Class Honours Degree. I have won a Lawrence Oliver Award for best actor against other actors from every other drama school, I have signed with one of the best agents in the country and have done vast amounts of professional work. And I have enjoyed every single second of it. ![]() Foyles War The Miskin is where it all started for me, and to be back now, on the other side, directing and guiding young actors is a complete joy. I am not a teacher because I don’t teach students. I am, though, a director that works with young actors and I believe for this to work we have to create the atmosphere of a professional theatre, which, for me, the Miskin Theatre does best. If it wasn’t for the Miskin ethos I wouldn’t be doing what I do now, acting, directing and following what I thought was a dream that turned into an ambition.
